They say 'an image is worth a thousand words' and as cliched as it sounds there is no better way to describe Eugenia Loli's work. A Greek collage artist based in California putting in her work what words forget to say. Sarcastic, witty and funny but always pertinent.

How did you began doing collages? Were you always planning to become an artist?

I was a computer programmer and later a tech journalist. I became a full time artist in 2012, in the age of 39, after I saw the new type of pop collage that sprang up via Tumblr.

How is your creative process? What is your source for inspiration for your work?

The universe. As for creative process, I just find an image I like and then I build on top of it.

What three words are best to describe your work and why?

Surreal, sarcastic and kitsch. All for obvious reasons.

Out of all the works you have created so far, which piece do you consider as the milestone of your career and why?

Definitely "Three Minutes to Nirvana". This artwork, my deepest and most complex to date, is about the journey humanity must take towards ascending into a higher state of being. I don't think I will ever top off that artwork.

What are your aspirations for your work in the future?

I want to do illustration. More psychedelic collage instead of pop collage too.

If you could travel back in time, which era would you like to live in? Why?

I would never go back in time. What's done is done. There is not asingle era in the human history that's celebratory, it's all filled with violence. If I had the option to move in time, I'd go to the future, never to the past.
